Translate from voice, pictures, text and more in over 60 languages with Google Translate.

If you’ve ever needed fast and accurate translation, Google translate is a must! This official translation app from Google can work offline, features excellent voice recognition and supports over 60 languages to date with partial support for many other languages being added regularly.

This app is like having a little translator in your pocket at all times – even without an internet connection you’ll be able to translate using the onboard dictionary file. It’s important to note that some features like real-time voice translation may require an internet connection, but it really depends on the language and if you have the database at hand or not.

Unlike some other translation apps (we’re looking at you, Bing), Translate features excellent voice recognition for dozens of languages. Bing is great for Chinese and English, but some languages (Tamil, for instance) aren’t as easy for it to translate. With Google Translate you’ll be able to hear clearly annunciated translations that will help you understand exactly what’s being said and respond faster.

Another great feature of the app is the ability to translate anything, and we do mean anything. Need to translate text and SMS? Just highlight the text and then translate directly right from your Android device.

Need to translate real-time audio conversations on the fly and understand what’s going on around you? Translate can do that. Need to take a picture of foreign instructions and get them translated in seconds to your native language? It can do that too!

While we like a lot of what Google Translate does, it’s important to point out that nothing is perfect. Some translations may be off, and you’ll want to be careful about how you use it especially in situations where the wrong translation might land you in trouble.

On the whole though, Google Translate is a great way to translate text, audio, voice and pictures even when you’re not online. You’ll need to download special language libraries to get full offline functionality, but aside from that it’s a great tool and should be installed on every Android device, just in case!
